Iron Man (Tony Stark)

First appearance in Iron Man (2008) Things on Tony Stark's recent activity feed: introducing an alien pest species to New York, abduction of a sitting U.S. President, and the literal uprooting of an East European city (devastating its local bistro economy). Being a billionaire playboy industrialist is one thing, but when playing superhero means mistakes get paid in innocent lives, Stark has reached breaking point. Of all the MCU good guys, Stark's endured the most personal costs in victory, including PTSD, alcoholism, romantic fallouts, and losing his swank oceanside home. Therefore, he leads the charge for government oversight of the Avengers, putting him head-to-head and fist-to-fist against Captain America

Played by: Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. has evolved into one of the most respected actors in Hollywood. With an amazing list of credits to his name, he has managed to stay new and fresh even after over four decades in the business.

Downey was born April 4, 1965 in Manhattan, New York, the son of writer, director and filmographer Robert Downey Sr. and actress Elsie Downey (née Elsie Ann Ford). Robert's father is of half Lithuanian Jewish, one quarter Hungarian Jewish, and one quarter Irish, descent, while Robert's mother was of English, Scottish, German, and Swiss-German ancestry. Robert and his sister Allyson were immersed in film and the performing arts from a very young age, leading Downey Jr. to study at the Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center in upstate New York, before moving to California with his father following his parents' 1978 divorce. In 1982, he dropped out of Santa Monica High School to pursue acting full time. Downey Sr., himself a drug addict, exposed his son to drugs at a very early age, and Downey Jr. would go on to struggle with abuse for decades.
Captain America (Steve Rogers)

His First appearance is in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). Truth, justice, and all that stuff. Yes, indeed, no movie superhero today embodies such a phrase as Steve Rogers, the scrawny wimp turned super soldier, aka Captain America. The result of a military experiment, Rogers took advantage of his major gains by becoming the Greatest Generation's poster boy, foiling Nazi plans left and right before being frozen and resurrected in the 21st century. Rogers' innate patriotism and nobility is cast in shadow when he discovers world police S.H.I.E.L.D. had long been infiltrated by another organization: HYDRA, sworn World War II enemies. At least Rogers has his crew the Avengers to fall back on -- that is, until an accord for superhero governance is introduced at the United Nations, splitting the team in ideological two. Having personally been betrayed by the establishment, Cap feigns no interest in creating a new one. Former Avengers ally Iron Man sees it differently.

Played by: Chris Evans

Christopher Robert Evans began his acting career in typical fashion: performing in school productions and community theater. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Lisa (Capuano), who worked at the Concord Youth Theater, and G. Robert Evans III, a dentist. His uncle is congressman Mike Capuano. Chris's father is of half German and half Welsh/English/Scottish ancestry, while Chris's mother is of half Italian and half Irish descent. He has an older sister, Carly Evans, and two younger siblings, a brother named Scott Evans, and a sister named Shana Evans. The family moved to suburban Sudbury when he was 11 years-old. Bitten by the acting bug in the first grade because his older sister, Carly, started performing, Evans followed suit and began appearing in school plays. While at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, his drama teacher cited his performance as "Leontes" in "The Winter's Tale" as exemplary of his skill. After more plays and regional theater, he moved to New York and attended the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.

Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff)

Her First appearance is in Iron Man 2 (2010). Trained from a young age by the KGB under the code name Black Widow, Natasha's top-notch assassin skills placed her on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hit list. Marked for death, Hawkeye instead spared Natasha's life, convincing her to take up a new job in America. There she was tasked to infiltrate Stark Industries and gauge whether Tony and his Iron suit would be up for joining the Avengers initiative. After the team assembled, she thwarted Loki's Chitauri (alien) invasion, pulled apart Ultron's robotic army, and assisted Captain America in taking down The Winter Soldier (partly as revenge for his shooting her in the stomach). An attempted romance between she and Bruce Banner (The Hulk) was...a little awkward, so since then it's been all about training new Avengers War Machine, Falcon, Vision, and Scarlet Witch.

Played by: Scarlett Johansson

Universally known as one of the sexiest women in Hollywood, Scarlett Johansson has actually been acting professionally since the age of eight. A native of New York City, where she was born on November 22, 1984, Johansson was raised -- along with her twin brother -- as the youngest of four children, and she developed an interest in acting at the age of three. After enrolling in classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute for Young People, she made her stage debut opposite Ethan Hawke in the off-Broadway production of Sophistry. Her film debut followed in 1994, when she had a supporting role in North, and she subsequently appeared in the little-seen Just Cause (1995) and If Lucy Fell (1996).
